The COVID-19 pandemic was an unprecedented challenge for our generation. Expressing anger and frustration towards the year is justified as the raging pandemic left many people traumatized by the loss of loved ones, bereaving with unemployment leading to hollowing the souls of many nations by affecting their economic gains. However, amidst all this chaos, there were also some unexpected beneficiaries. Let’s take a step back and think in retrospect who was turbocharged in this pandemic.

We humans should be thankful that the internet proved to be savior, helping us stay connected and providing much-needed respite from the mundane life that the pandemic forced us into. Without the cyberspace and social media, we would have been on the brink of insanity, and mental healthcare facilities would have been overwhelmed.

Additionally, the internet played a critical role in spurring the growth of many businesses across various industries.

As per a Financial Times story, the video conferencing company Zoom witnessed a record profit during the pandemic due to the skyrocketing demand for its services. The demand for video conferencing drove the company’s revenue to UD $777 million in the three months to the end of October 2020, up from US $167 million a year ago and far above the UD $693 million what the Wall Street had expected…
